Honoring the memory of his 2nd great
grandfather, Samuel E. Mossman |

| Samuel E. Mossman
was born 15 Nov 1841 in Mercer Co., Illinois and
was the son of George Mossman & Hannah
(Brown). He came with his parents to Hardin Co.,
Iowa in 1854. When the war broke out, he enlisted
in the 32nd Iowa Infantry, serving under Capt.
Joseph Edgington. He was sent to St. Louis and
later served under General Sherman and was in the
Red River expedition, and during this, fell ill.
He was honorably discharged at Davenport at the
close of the war, and later held the office of
Trustee, Clerk, and Justice of the Peace. On the 10th of Aug he
married Margaret (Hough) and they became the
parents of Byron, William, Elizabeth, Frederick,
Isaac, Jasper J., Miner "Mike" and Edna
Mossman.
Samuel died on 13
Jun 1900 in Tipton and was buried on the 18th.
His wife Margaret died on 30 Jan 1922 and was
also laid to rest in Hubbard Cemetery.
