| The parents of Ryan are not
yet known, but according to his headstone
and other records, he was born in Green
Co., Ohio on 04 Sep 1819. When he arrived
in Illinois is not known, but he married
Elizabeth Buck in Warren County on 24 May
1849. Elizabeth, the daughter of
William and Adeline, was born on 15 Jan
1831 in what became Erie County, Ohio
five years after her birth and a portion
which was believed to have been part of
Sandusky County. She was the sister of
Cornelia who married Samuel Smith, though
the relationship between the two Smith
husbands is not known.
Ryan died
in Monmouth on 29 Oct 1897, leaving his
widow to mourn him for more than a dozen
years. Elizabeth passed away on 29 Jan
1910. They were the parents of Cornelia,
Orpha and Levertt Smith.
