EDWARD O. "E.O." SMITH & HATTIE (SUTTON)
The son of Ryan Richard Smith and Sarah E. (Dulaban), E.O. was born in Smithton, Pettis Co., MO on 23 Feb 1875. He married Hattie Belle Sutton, daughter of Benjamin and Rachel on 18 Jul 1897 in Warsaw, Benton Co., Missouri.

Hattie was born on 09 Feb 1873 in Bethany, Benton Co., Missouri and was the mother of their seven children: Odes, Olin, Norva, Glenn, Leora, Ruby and Doris Smith. She died at the age of eighty-eight on 20 May 1964 in Fort Collins, Colorado.

E.O. lived more than seven years after the death of his wife. In June of 1971, he was honored as the Senior Citizen of the Month. The article in part states: "In 1918 he grew and threshed 10,000 bushels of wheat, hauled it to the elevator in a Studebaker Wagon which held 100 bushels, brim full, and used four to six horses."

According to the article, those were the best years of his life. He died about six months after the article was published on 23 Dec 1971 at the age of ninety-six years and ten months.
