| Daughter of Stephen and
Zepora/Zipporah (Cottingham), Eliza was born in
Maryland in about 1806. She married James Peters
Smith, son of Samuel and Elizabeth
"Betsy" (Peters) in Dearborn Co.,
Indiana on 27 Aug 1826. Eliza and James
were the parents of: Nelson, Jerusha, Richard,
Elizabeth, Oliver, Thomas, James, Henry, Dewitt
and George; and resided in Jennings Co., Indiana.
In 1870, however, she and James were residing
near in Marion Co., Illinois near their son
Nelson's family.
Date of
death and place of burial is not known.
