Note: Charles Benjamin Pilcher was born 16
Mar 1844 in Fayette Co., IL, and was the son of
Winslow Pilcher & Averilla (Gatewood). He
married Lydia (Harkey) on 26 Nov 1865. His
children were: Viola, George, John, William,
Elliott, Zadie Alice, Ella Edith, Leva L., and
Mary Lucy, the youngest of which was born in
about 1878.

I am
the youngest son of Winslow Pilcher seignior his
fathers name was Louis he had a brother
Ben. His Uncle James had a son Joshua an
other Payton they mooved to Galuna in Jo
Davis, co, Ill. My oldest brother is now 78
years old six brothers and 3 sisters remain out
of 18 9 sisters and 9 brothers with
nepphews and neaces and their children we are a
larg family Cousin Thomas Pilcher of
Lexington, Ky has preserved quite a genealogical
record and sent a copy to my oldest brother as
son as I can if the relitivs wish I will send
them a copy of it - the Pilchers here are
not welthy but enjoy a good living as a
rule are farmers as a rule large stout fleshy men
and women farily educated at common schools
we all part our hair in the middle after 25 years
of age but one and he is at rest now we
inherit bladness
tell
the strange relativs I will galdly answer any of
them if they will write to me at Brownstown,
Ill.
My
age is 53 I hav 2 sons and 3 daughters 2
grand sons a daughterinlaw am a widower 11 years
now my youngest is 15 the daughters
keep house for me. Please hand this to som
of the Pilchers
