WILLIAM BLAKELY PETERS - author of the letter, and great grandfather of Carolyn McPherson, was born in Stamford, Harpersfield Twp., Delaware Co., New York on 23 Dec 1837. He was the son of John Peters and Jane (Blakely), and in 1861 married Hannah Rich, the daughter of James and Jane Ann (Southard) Rich. Having a special fondness for mathematics and fascinated with the watch-making industry, William became the owner of a watch and jewelry business, and was also a superior surveyor and draughtsman. He died in Bloomville on 03 Nov 1904, and was laid to rest at the Riverside Cemetery.

It should also be noted that the husband of Sarah Peters, daughter of William B. & Hannah (Rich) Peters, was William Hendry Hickok who was a conductor for the Ulster and Delaware Railroad - they were married in Bloomville in 1896.

SAMUEL GRIPMAN DIMMICK - was born 17 Oct 1833 in Middletown, Delware Co., New York and was the son of Noah and Mary (Keator). He was married to Christena G. Hardenberg who was the daughter of Abram and Mary (Cole). they were married on 28 Oct 1857 and had one daughter, Mary Haradenberg Dimmick, who appears with the in the 1860 census in Middletown. In 1870 the family was residing in Kingston, Ulster Co., New York where Samuel was a director of the Ulster & Delware Railroad Co., in 1891. He died while on vacation in New Orleans on 27 Feb 1899. His wife, Christena, died 24 Nov 1892 and he married as his 2nd wife, Mary Osterhaudt. Samuel, Christena, and their daughter Mary are all laid to rest at Wiltwyk Cemetery in Kingston, where one marker is inscribed with all three names.
