The 1860 census lists every name, age, sex, color and occupation of persons over 15 years of age. It includes both the value of real estate and personal estate, the place of birth(state, territory or country), whether a person was married within the year, whether person was deaf-mute, blind, insane, an idiot, a pauper or a convict. The separate slave schedules showthe name of slave owner, number of slaves owned, number of slaves manumitted (freed), and under the slave owner's name a line for each slave shows their age, color, sex, and whether they were deaf-mute, blind, insane, idiotic or a fugitive from the state. |
