Hill Feby 18th 1859 Madam I have been for the
Last 6 months trying to find some of the heirs of
Archibald Mossman but without success untill the
other day I Happened in Company with John Edwards
and he showed me your Letter of the 5th December
Last in which you were adking for information as
to when your grand father came from &c my
Self and Sir Edwards have Both made diligent
enquiry from all the old persons about here and
as yet can find no person who can tell us where
or what part of england Sir Mossman came from.
Mr.
Edward requested me to say to you that he would
still try to find Some Clue the matter & I
promise you my Self I will spare no pains to find
where he came from and let you know.
You no
doubt wonder what my object is for enquiring
about your grand Father well I will tell you He
died at Norfolk and under the pension law his
heirs are entitled to a pension I have been for
the Last 3 years prossecuting those pension &
and Bounty Land Claimes for the Soldiers of the
1812 and in ----- examineing the records is
covered Sir Mossmans name & have ever sinse
trying to find his heirs and never could here any
thing till I Seen your Letter
Should
you and the Ballance of the heirs wish this claim
presecuted Rite to me as soon as you receive this
and say who the heirs are or if any of Sir
Mossmans children are alive send me their names
the names of their Post offices &c &c
also what part of the claim you would be willing
to give me to obtain the pension for you I will
charge you nothing if I fail to obtain it.
After
consulting amongst your selves should you
conclude to imploy me rite and let me know it and
I ill make out a power of Attorney and send it to
you and you can have it assigned and sent to me
and I will then go to work.
Rite me
on rect of this I will rite to you again
after (Carrol Count?) Which is first Monday in
month when I will meet Mr. Edwards again for my
capacity to serve I ofer you to your friend Jno
Edwards who knows me well
