Respected Nephew and Niece

I gladly Imbrace the present opertunity of Sending you a few lines to inform you that we are in tolerable helth except my wife She was confined on the 6th of this instance and has a fine daughter and calls it Elleanor after your mother She had bin verry weakley for a long time and I was verry fraid I should lose her but thank the Lord She is now doeing tolerable well we had that good Doctor our oald friend *Thomas Willits he is one of the Best men in our Country he Sends his Best respects and well wishes to you all - I will here State one important circustance I have bin the the habbit of useing ardent Spirrits as a beverage all my lifetime until Jenuary 1851 when it pleased the Lord to grant me Sefficient resolution to abandon its uce for Ever and I am now well and hearty and con doe more Labour then any Son I hve and no amount of money could induce me to Ever use it a gain I have not Sined any plede but my own free resolution is as firm as a rock I wish Some of you would Come and See us I Sent a letter to your mother a few days ago also to Brother Wm Mossman he lives in fulton County Indiana and Rochester is the post office. I have received Several letters from my Son Eli in California he is Comeing home in next month if good luck halth it I will Send you our family record I think it will be of Some interest to you and family I Sent one to your mother I Received aletter the other day from Mary Jane Mossman She lives in fayette County Indiana I have Sent for her to come and live with us She is Brother williams oldest daughter her mother has bin dead three years and her father is marriade a gain that is the reason She is a way from home.

Aaron Mossman Died Agust the 4th 1839 aged 6 years and 7 months

Alexander Mossman Died September 6th 1844 aged 21 years one month & 23 days

now My Dear relatives you can See the Sise of my family and the necesity of wroking for a living we are doeing tolerable well i have a good farm and works hard i have a thrashing machine and run it my Self the Coldst Wether last winter Plese rite often as convenient and Come and See us if you can I Remain your affectunate uncle until death
