William EMERSON was 'Head of Household' in Jones Co. in 1820 Census

His will mentions wife Sarah, sons William, James, Benjamin, Zachariah and daughter Betsy Tamplin. His will is recorded in Will Book C, page 193 - 1830 Jones County, Georgia. They may have moved to Jones County, GA in 1808. He bought a piece of land from a person who won land in the lottery after the removal of the Indians. He managed to obtain 80 acres in Hancock which he paid taxes on in 1808, however there is no deed in his name. At the same time he owned 101.25 acres in Jones Co., GA; the tax on the latter was $1.39

He was in Company L. This information came from Pike County Soldiers in the 15th Alabama Infantry Regiment. Francis M Emerson is listed in the 1850 US Pike Co., Alabama Census as a 22 year old son living with John Emerson. He was married and may have had some children before dying in the Civil War.
