Last Will & Testament

I, John. Strickland, of the county of Johnston, and state of North Carolina, being of sound mind and memory, but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence, do make and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say:

First:

That my executor shall provide for my body a decent burial, suitable to the wishes of my relations and friends and pay all funeral expenses, together with my just debts, howsoever and to whomsoever owing out of the moneys that may first come into his hands as a part and parcel of my estate

Item 1 st : I give and devise to my beloved daughter BERTHIE (STRICKLAND) WINESFORD, (19) nineteen acres of land and household and kitchen furniture and also one single boared shotgun to have and hold during the rest of her natural life

I do hereby constitute and approve my trusty friend, W.R. STANLEY, my lawful executor to execute this, my last will and testament according to this true meaning of the same.

In witness whereof, I, the said JOHN STRICKLAND, do hereunto set my hand and seal, the 2nd day of November, A.D. 1884.
