Last Will and Testament

In the name of God, Amen. I, ELISHA STRICKLAND of Wake County & State of North Carolina, being in perfect mind and memory, thanks be given unto God, calling into mind the mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testa­ment , that is to principally & first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hand of Almighty God that give it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in a deacent christian burial at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection, I shall receive the same again by the Almighty Power of God, and as touching such worldly estate where with it has been please God to bless me with in this Life, I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner & form:

First, I to my dearly beloved KENCHION STRICKLKND the manor Plantation where I now live containing by estimation 300 acres lying on both sides of Mockason Creek; one Negro woman named Hannah; one Negro girl named Vilet: & one Negro Boy named Croel; one Mare, Saddle & Bridle; one Bed & furniture & all my cattle but one cow & calf that I leave to my Grand Daughter Milbery STRICKLAND

Also, I give to my son, ISAAC STRICKLAND, two hundred & fifty acres of land lying in the fork of Mockerson, It being the plantation where he now lives.

Also, I give to MARY CARTER one Cow & Calf.

Also, I give to my son, JACOB STRICKLAND, one shilling.

Also, give to my Daughter, PRISCILLA SEAGROVES, one shilling.

Also, I give to my Daughter, CHARITY JOHNSTON, one shilling.

Also, I give to my Daughter PATTY STRICKLAND, one Bound girl named Silvey Hickman till she is twenty one years of age.

Also, I give to my Daughter, SALLY PACE, one Negro woman named Tims.

Also, I give to my above named Grand Daughter, MILBERY STRICKLAND, one Negro woman named Nanny (only her third child to my son, ISAAC. STRICKLAND) and one Bed,

To them to possess after my decease & the remainder of my land, Horses, Sheep & geese & all the rest of my living — I leave to be sold by son ISAAC STRICKLAND, whome I appoint to be my Executor to this my last Will and Testament as much as will pay by Debts & the rest I leave to my son KINCHEN & I do hereby utterly disallow revoke & disannull all and every other former Testament, Wills, Legaces, bequest and Executors by me in any wise before named, willed and bequeathed, Ratifying & confirming this & no other to be my last will & testament. Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this twenty third day of February in the year of our Lord one Thousand Seven Hundred & Ninety five.
