Notes for Israel INGALLS
A copy of the Revolutionary War pension application for Israel Ingalls is in the important papers binder. Following is the general text of the application:

"August 20, 1832, Israel Ingalls of Columbia township, Ohio, Seventy-fours of age , deposed:

That he enlisted July 1, 1776 under Capt. Barnes, in Dunstable, NH, marched to Skeensborough, then to Ticonderoga, where he served until November, 1776 when he returned home;

That in 1778 he volunteered to serve against the enemy at Rhode Island, where he marched, and placed himself under the command of General Sullivan; served over a month;

That he was born in Andover, Mass. December 28 1854; lived in Dunstable, NH during and until after the close of the Revolution, then moved to Corinth, VT., then to Bath, NH, then to Penobscot River, ME, and then to Hamilton County, Ohio where he has lived ever since

As according to the rolls Ingals served only five months and twenty-three days the claim was at first rejected and Ingals so notified.

December 25, 1835 he wrote from "Columba" to Hon. Bellamy Storer N.C. in Washington:

Dear Sir. I Recd your letter of the 11th Instant yesterday which informed me that the Returns of my service under Colns. Wyman and Nichols fell 7 days Short of six months, but in Adition to this I was one week at Cambridge doing Soldier's duty and at the time of Bunker Hill Battle we were Alarmed and was out all night and ______ to the camp in the morning whare I continued about two weeks; and when our Army was drove from Ticonderoga the militia ware calld upon to turn out to the Asistance of the Army. I with many others turned out we marched to No 4 alias Charleston a distance of 80 miles.

Claim allowed and Certificate 30677, Ohio Agency, was issued June 3, 1836, Act of June 7, 1832. Resolution of May 1836.

Israel was paid One hundred Ten Dollars - $ 20.00 per year for the five and one-half years it took to process the claim.
