William Harry Stratford born 16 April 1870 in Astrope, Puttenham, Herts.William Harry Stratford was recorded at different times with the variations of the surname. It seems that he was more commonly known as Harry Stratfull. Harry Stratfull was the first son of Charles Prince Stratfield and Louisa (nee Oakley); he followed his father and his brothers Edward Charles Stratfull and George Frederick Stratford in to employment on the canal. Harry Stratfull is first noted as a "boatmans help" in the census of 1881; he was only 10 years old. He seems to have spent his whole working life on the canal. He was recorded at Long Marston, Marsworth and Harefield - then he was recorded towards the north, in Northampstonshire. Harry Stratfull married Emily Ann Walker on 30 May 1910 at Long Buckby, Northamptonshire. They were married for 35 years before Emily Stratfull died. They had no known children. Emily Ann Stratfull died of valvular disease of the heart on 26 April 1936 at Anchor Row, Buckby Wharf, Long Buckby, Northamptonshire. Harry Stratfull died of carcinoma of the liver, carcinoma of the tongue and diabetes on 6 January 1940 at Whilton Locks, Whilton, Daventry, Northamptonshire.
