John Thomas Stratfull born 3 July 1882 at 38 North Wharf Road, Paddington, London.John Thomas Stratfull was the son of Daniel Stratfull and Eliza (nee Owen). John Thomas followed his father and brother Frederick Stratfull in to canal employment. John Thomas Stratfull is first noted as a boatman on 12 September 1909 at the time of his marriage to Bella Isolda Currie at St. Mary Magdalene Church, Paddington, London. He was probably working the canals well before then. In 1913 he was noted as a labourer at the canal wharf and early in 1915 he was a carman, by the end of 1915 he was working on the railway. Then he had a few years in military service for the First World War, 1920 saw him as a builders labourer. In 1922 he was back on the canals until 1929 when he became a council labourer. John Thomas and Bella Isolda Stratfull had a total of 9 children, but 5 of these died in infancy in Paddington, London. Bella Isolda Stratfull died of influenza and pneumonia on 7 February 1929 at 285 Harrow Road, London. John Thomas Stratfull married Susannah Gentry on 5 February 1934 at the Register Office, Paddington, London. John Thomas Stratfull appears to have lived (and worked the canal) always in the Paddington area, however when he died of broncho pneumonia, advanced bile duct carcinoma and metastases on 3 April 1952 it was at the All Saints Hospital, Bromsgrove, Worchestershire.
