Dear Carrington Cousins,

You will recall that our collective ancestor, Rev. Timothy Carrington, pastored Cloud's Creek Baptist Church (CCBC) in Oglethorpe County, GA, from 1792 to January 1803. Rev. Timothy was also a charter member of CCBC, and his name was included on a bronze plaque erected by the CCBC Descendants Group in honor of and in memory of the charter members. That bronze plaque is mounted on the front exterior wall of the church by the entry door. Read the full story of Rev. Timothy's ministry. Go to the story of Rev. Timothy's ministry

Alice Hughes, a descendant of one of the charter members of Cloud's Creek Baptist Church, and the other members of the CCBC Descendant Group have invited ALL descendants of the pioneer members and especially descendants of Rev.Timothy Carrington to attend the annual anniversary celebration at Cloud's Creek Baptist Church on Sunday September 20, 2009. So far as I am aware, NONE of Rev. Timothy Carrington's descendants have ever before attended The Cloud's Creek Baptist Church Anniversary Celebration. It will be a good opportunity for Carrington descendants to get together this year and to show support for Rev. Timothy's close connections to this church. So let's all try to attend.

A copy of the full information about the anniversary celebration follows below. Alice Hughes asked that we please let them know who to expect at the Anniversary Celebration at the Church, so you may want to RSVP directly to Alice if you plan to attend, or you can let me know and I will forward the information to her.

Cordially,

Diane Carrington Bradford

2009 CLOUD'S CREEK ANNIVERSARY WEEKEND

The 221st anniversary of Cloud's Creek Baptist Church, Oglethorpe County, Georgia, will be observed on Sunday, September 20, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. with a covered dish luncheon following the service.  A suggestion is to bring desserts, salads, cold meats, breads, etc., rather than foods that require heating.  If you are coming from a long distance, you may prefer to stop by a grocery store deli on your way to the church.  Bell’s, just outside Crawford, will be your only choice with limited selection once you are in Oglethorpe County.

On this occasion, the church will dedicate the new stained glass windows, which have been acquired through donations from church members and friends and from descendants of the pioneer families who settled here after the American Revolution.  Those being honored or remembered by donors will have their names engraved on one of two plaques: one will remember the pioneers; the second will remember people who have been connected to Cloud’s Creek Church in more recent times.

This year also marks the 10th anniversary of the historical marker dedication (September 19,1999) and the 100th anniversary of the dedication (October 31, 1909) of the present church sanctuary.
