Mrs. Jacob Venton – Death of North Gouverneur Woman after long Illness

Aurilla, wife of Jacob Venton, a well known North Gouverneur farmer, died at 3 P.M. yesterday after a long period of ailing health caused from heart trouble, aged 61 years.  Mrs. Venton was born in the town of Macomb, Oct. 2, 1850, her parents being Sylvester and Jane Hurst Washburn, pioneer farmers of that town.  About 40 years ago she was married to Mr. Venton and they had since followed farming in Macomb and this town, where she was well known and most highly esteemed.  Besides her husband she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Onie Rourke of Natural Bridge, Mrs. Fred Becker and Mrs. John Culbertson of Gouverneur, and three sons, William and James Venton of Gouverneur, and E. H. Venton of Antwerp.  She also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Robert Bates of Gouverneur; Mrs. Cynthia Downing of Macomb and Mrs. Edgar Wilson of Depeyster and two brothers, Alvin Washburn of Evans Mills and Sylvester Washburn of Macomb.  The funeral services will be conducted from the late home at 11 A.M. Friday, by Rev. Mr. Culligan of Richville and interment will be made in the Babcock cemetery.
