Henry VIII constantly needed more money than was forthcoming from his normal sources of revenue. As in 1522, the landholders and persons of means were expected to provide. In the 1524 & 1525 subsidies wages were added to the list of taxable wealth, however a man would only be taxed on one of these, the one that promised the highest return for the king.

In the following list the 1524 and 1525 returns are combined for Stithians. The list of names  (70) is longer than the 1522 Military Survey and Loan because at that time they were taxed on lands and goods to the value of 5 and this time they're taxed on land, goods and wages of 1 .  King Hal, being fair-minded, wasn't going to allow such inequity to continue.

Surnames follow the same format as that seen and discussed in the 1522 Muster and Loan. In many cases the taxpayer is identified by his place of residence and in other cases by his father's first name. These are identified with the associated modern place names in the former case. In the later case the men are bracketed in the original list, sometimes indicating that they shared the same wealth, these are indicated with a ditto mark " . For example, we have  Simon Trehere sharing goods to the value of 2 with his son, Richard Symon.
