WILLIAM EDWARD STILSON, born February 9, 1819, at Sugar Grove, PA, son of David and Mary (Burrough) Stilson, died 1884. He married Deborah Page, born September 30, 1818, died April 19, 1892, daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Steel) Page and granddaughter of John and Deborah (Bell) Page of Philadelphia. They were buried in Stilson Hill Cemetery, at Sugar Grove. William Edward Stilson was a farmer. See William Charles Stillson genealogy for information on the Page family. One son, Records of Agnes Stilson report the death of David Newton in 1901. See Generation VII. 2. Amost Clinton, b. October 20, 1850, married 1873, Stella Mae Truesdell, b. April 20, 1857, daughter of Rev. Charles and Betsy (Baker) Truesdell. Changed spelling of name to STILLSON. Moved to Elgin, Erie Co., PA. Three Children. July 2, 1910, married Gerritt S. Horton, November 17, 1875. One child, Pearl Irene, b. November 4, 1878 at Sugar Grove, PA., m. September 2, 1902, Wheeler Washburn Brush, b. Nov. 9, 1868, son of Rev. DAVID STILSON, son of David and Mary (Burrough) Stilson, bon on Stilson Hill, Sugar Grove, PA., August 9, 1827, died at Jamestown, NY. May 29, 1901, married Margaret Page, born in Pittsfield Twp., (Page Hollow) PA., July 31, 1834, and died at Jamestown, NY, January 14, 1900. They were married September 9, 1852. Margaret was the daughter of Thomas Till Page and wife, Margaret Steel, and was sister to Deborah McNair Page, who married William Edward Stilson, older brother of David. Both David and Margaret are buried in Cherry Hill Cemetery, at Sugar Grove. David was a farmaer in his earlier days, and later had various business connections, and for a time was in the lumber business. Children: 1. Thomas Perry, b. 1853, at Sugar Grove, PA. d. at Jamestown, NY. 1881, age 28. He married Nellie Tyrell or Tyrrell. Death was due to typhoid fever. He left no children. 2. Alice A., b. March 5, 1857, at Sugar Grove, PA. d. March 7, 1895, at Sugar Grove, PA and married June 11, 1884 to Charles Samuel Middleton, b. 1849 at Conneaut, Ohio, d. 1918, at Cleveland, son of Robert and Mary (Benedict) Middleton. After the death of Alice, the first wife, Charles Middleton married Elda Carmer, 1899 and had three children. Alice A. Stilson and Charles Samuel Middleton had: Margaret Jane, b. 1885; Robert Benedict, b. 1887 and Maude b. 1890. Alice A. (Stilson) Middleton is buried in Cherry Hill Cemetery, Sugar Grove. 3. Frank Adelbert, b. December 11, 1862, at Page Valley, PA, m. Sept 30, 1884, Effia N. Merrill, b. October 14, 1866, daughter of Joshua S. and Olive Griggs Merrill. Moved to Denver in 1909. STILSON - SIXTH GENERATION(Vincent 1;Hugh 2;Joseph 3;Amos 4;Benoni 5; Amos Clinton 6) VI. AMOS CLINTON STILLSON, son of Benoni and hannah (Brown) Stilson, was born at Jamestown, NY in 1837. He married Adelia Robertson, daughter of George and Rhoda (Luce) Robertson in 1860. She was born October 15, 1839. Amos Clinton was a carpenter and builder. He settled in Sugar Grove, PA, in 1871. He formed a partnership with W.A. Bush and purchased a steam planing, sawing and carpenter supply factory in 1885. Had one child. Records of Agnes Stillson report he died in 1885. The William Charles Stillson history carries additional information on this line and notes that in late 1873 or early 1874 amos Clinton left Stillson Hill and moved to Elgin, Eric County PA. Being of the conviction that Stilson should be spelled "Stillson," he purposely changed the spelling of his name when he moved "off the Hill." This added letter was carried on by his descendants. 1. Name of wife unknown. He had four children. Children: 1.D.Earl, b. 1868 2.Lewellyn B., b. 1872, d. 1876 3.Catherine, b. 1875, d. 1894 4.Benjamine A., b. 1882, d. July 2, 1931. m. ____, and had one daughter, Genevieve b. 1905, who m. ____ Scudder. WILLIAM STILSONson of Elnathan and Polly (Wetmore) Stilson married Martha Ward. IGI files, member submission records Martha and William's marriage on September 16, 1856 in Newtown CT. Children: 1.Abel Stilson, possibly the same as A.P. Stilson b. November 10, 1857. 2.John R. Stilson, b. November 16, 1866. November 23, 1871, son of Philo and Hannah (Hoyt) Stilson, married. April 22, 1841 in Cleveland, Ohio, Laura Ann Bostwick b. August 6, 1818, Ohio, d. September 22, 1880, daughter of Edmund and Aurelia (Hawley) Bostwick of Edinburg, Ohio. The 1850 census for Ohio shows Hiram H. Stillson living in Edinburg, Portage County. He is shown as aged 34 years, a Farmer with property valued at $400. His birthplace is listed as CT. His wife Laura A. is shown as aged 32 years, born in Ohio. Children Sherwood H. Clarence H. are listed. Living with Hiram's family are Edmund Bostwick, Sr., aged 67, the father of Laura Ann, also Polly M. Bostwick aged 60 years and and Eliz___ Bostwick aged 93 years, (possibly the mother of Edmund Bostwick). Also listed is a George Stilson in same town. Children: 1.Sherwood Hawley, b. January 17, 1842 in Edinburg, Portage, Ohio, d. March 30, 1907 at Cleveland, Ohio, m. Feb. 8, 1871, Isabel Hopkins, b. 1845, d. 1925, daughter of James and Mary (Lane) Hopkins. December 27, 1908 at Phoenix, Arizona, m. (2)George Magill pardee, b. 1889 at Watsonville, California. Mary Alice and her husbands had the following children.
