AMOS STILSON, born February 29, 1780, son of Abel and Mary (Hine) Stilson, married May 10, 1812, Patty Munn, born June 26, 1790, daughter of David and Hester (Hinman) Munn. Children: 1. Rebeckah Jane, b. July 19, 1813, Bethlehem Twp., CT. The birth of Rebeckah was found listed in the IGI fiels with its source as CT vital records. Since the birth of Rebeckah is recorded in Litchfield, it could be that the 1850 census in Litchfield which mentions an Amos Stilson may refer to this person. The 1850 Census record lists an Amos Stillson (doubleL) living in Bethlehem, Litchfield County, CT. Also shown in this census tally for Bethlehem are Clarinda Stillson, Joseph Stillson, Jr. and Samuel W. Stillson. Other Children? STILSON - SIXTH GENERATION(Vincent 1; Hugh 2; Joseph 3; Joseph 4; Eli 5; Lyman 6) VI. LYMAN STILSON, son of Eli and Abigail Northrup, born in 1792 in Connecticut (per 1850 Census Record) died in West Windsor, Broome Co., NY, February 5, 1868, "aged 75, 9 months and 27 days" which would make his birth date April 8, 1792. He is presumed to have come to West Windsor with his father and he had a farm in what was called "Stilson Hollow" he was also an inn-keeper. He married Bethiah Taggart, born October 35, 1794, died April 7, 1853 who was the daughter of Nathaniel Taggart. It is probable that he was the son of Eli and Abigali (Northrup) Stilson. From his close association in West Windsor with LYMAN STILSON, it is believed by many that Lyman was the son of Eli, by first wife Abigail, but this conclusion is by inference, and no printed proof has been found. Lyman Stilson was a clerk of the Free Will Baptist church (whom Eli helped to organize) of West Windsor in 1843. Lyman Stilson and wife Bethiah deed land on January 20, 1847 to Eli, called "2nd", "151 rods", land valued at $1,000. This was just before Eli Stilson, 2nd, settled in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Others to whom Lyman and Bethiah deded land were "Polly", Lucy Hawley, Hannah Moors, Chancey Hoadley, John Knowlton, Charles Vail, Enos Hoag, Rebecca Hoadly, Polly Phillips, Phildelia Chase- it is believed that these were children or sons-in-laws of Lyman. Lyman's name features in other real estate transactions, so it is inferred that he had considerable land. Complete listing of his children not found. Tombstone, records the following: 1. Rebeeda (Rebecca?), daughter of Lyman and Bethiah, b. October 9, 1816, d. December 11, 1893. m. John Bartis Hoadley (1812-1872). They had 5 children, among them was Adelbert Hoadley, b. Feb. 20, 1862 m. Helen Phillips. (Ref. Hoadley Genealogy). Note: LDS temple sealing recors the IGI files of the family history center, recording the marriage of Rebecca Stillson to John Bartis Hoadley in West Windsor, NY on June 35, 1835 2. Nathaniel, son of Lyman and Bethiah, d. October 2, 1829, age 11 years. 3. George, son of Lyman and Bethia, d. February 22, 1844, aged 4 years, 2 months and 20 days. 4. Eli (?) There is no conclusive record that states that Eli, 2nd, was child of Lyman and Bethia, but the fact that he received $1,000 worth of land from Lyman, and could have been named Eli, for his granfather, Eli STilson, leads credence to inference. However, there is reference to him being the "2nd" which makes it unclear. There is also reference to Eli as "Jr." was to distinguish him fromhis grandfather. In any case, he would not have been "2nd" since he was the son of Lyman. or even the "2nd" term might distinguish him from his grandfather. 5. Pamela Drake, daughter of Leonard Drake of Windsor, who was a minor chose Lyman Stilson to be her guardian July 23, 1827. STILSON - SIXTH GENERATION(Vincent 1; Hugh 2; Joseph 3; Amos 4; David 5; Anson 6) VI. Anson and Miretta spent most of their lives in the vicinity of Stilson Hill, Sugar Grove, Warren Co., PA. The 1850 census lists Anson as a farmer, with a farm valued at $800. In 1870 the family was apparently living in Minnesota. The 1870 census records show Anson Stilson living in Collins, McL___ County, Minnesota along with Gilman, Irena J., and his wife Miretta.
