LODEMIA MARIAH SAMPSON

Lodemai Mariah Sampson wife of Nathan Stilson (see nathan below).

Lodemia b. Sept. 22, 1830 d. Dec. 23, 1917 Rochester, Thurston, Washington.

Lodemia was the daughter of William Sampson b. 1807 NY & Betsy West, b. 1806 NY. William Sampson's parents were Henry Sampson b. 1767 NY and Sally Whitaker b. 1768 NY. The Town of Scott, Conty of Wayne, State of Pennsylvania's 1850 census shows William Sampson as a farmer. Lodemia not in this census, due to marriage, but there are another 10 children between the ages of 21 years and 4 months shown. Henry Sampson was a blacksmith. Rosemary Channel compiled a great deal of additional information on the Whitaker and Sampson families.

NATHAN STILSON

Nathan Stilson, son of Moses and Charlotte (Foster) Stilson, b. West Meredith, NY October 1, 1825/26, married at Starrudca, PA, Nov. 15, 1849 to Lodemia Sampson (above). He was a veteran of the Civil War and a scout. After the war he became a trapper and hunter, and died at Rochester, Thurston Co., Washington, Oct. 21, 1908 at the age of 83. He & Lodemia are buried Blk 129 at the Washington Lawn Cemetery, Centralia, Lewis Co., Washington.

He was a farmer by occupation. This photo of his is taken about 1962 New York.
