From Jeff Miller's Sprouse Family website:

Important Message: During research on this side of the Sprouse family it must be realized that me and many of other researchers have come across at least three to four Vincent's in our research. These Vincent's are all different, but early research showed them as the same. It appears to me and others that Vincent or Vinson had a son Vincent and at least two of his grandchildren are also named Vincent, causing much confusion. This information needs to be figured out. Any input on this matter would really be helpful and appreciated. The two major dates that keep coming up are for Vincent Sr. dying September 6, 1830 near Gowdeyville, Union District, South Carolina. and his son dying d: 1879 in Polk Co., North Carolina. These dates would mean that each died being well over 100 years old. Possible but highly unlikely for the times.

Vinson Sprouse, name also seen as Vincent
b: about 1720 in Virginia,
d: actually unknown in early research it is stated that he died September 6, 1830 near Gowdeyville, Union District, South Carolina

married about 1742-44 in Albemarle County, Virginia

Mary Sprouse
b: about 1724 in Virginia
d: (?) Gowdeyville, Union District, South Carolina

The seven children listed below are all believed to be those of Vincent and Mary Sprouse all believed born in the area of current Albemarle and Fluvanna Counties Virginia.

(David remarries Rachael Humphries in 1802 in Henry Co., Virginia after death of Lucy)

A: John Nicholas Sprouse b: November 11, 1788 in N.C. d: June 19, 1878 in Wilkesville Township, Vinton County, Ohio m: Sarah (Sally) Aleshire b: January 11, 1798 d: March 3, 1885 (not proven a son as of yet but a large amount of circumstantial evidence)

B: Robert A. Sprouse b: 1790 in ? Gallia Co., Ohio d: 1886 in Ohio m: Minerva Gillette b: 1806 d: 1892 in Jefferson Co., Illinois

C: other possible children Lewis, Elijiah and possibly Martin.
