Charles J. Higgins' Line

Maine

The Higgins' and Hinckley's came from Eastham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts and migrated northward up the coast.  Several of these ancestors are buried in the West Farmingdale Cemetery:  Jesse & Mary Higgins, Alden & Susan Rice, James & Joanna Hinkley, and John & Mehitable Rice.

Charles J. Higgins married Sara Elizebath Rice and they had three sons, two while in Indiana and the last when they settled in Farmingdale, Kennebec, Maine.
 

  • Henry Gage Higgins:  born 20 Feb 1869 Indiana; married 29 Nov 1896 Maine to Alice M. Reed and had one daughter, Louise; died before she grew up.
  • Charles H. Higgins:  born 18 Nov 1871 Indiana; married 25 Oct 1899 Maine to Marie A. Amee and had three children, Dorothy, Wilbur and Philip; died 1959 Maine.
  • Dwight Lamar Higgins:  born 24 Dec 1876 Maine; married 14 Oct 1908 Maine to Bertha May Purinton and had two sons; died 5 Mar 1948 Maine.

    Jesse Higgins married Mary McKenney Hinkley in Hallowell, it appears.  When she died, he married Mary Moody, and it does not appear that he had children from the second marriage.
