Joseph Franklin Boyd married Mary Elizabeth Ferguson in Gibson County
and it is unknown how many children they had.
This family is not known well. It appears the family started in
Mississippi and then moved to Gibson County, Tennessee.
Harris Joshua Ferguson married Sarah Pettis Crafton in Gibson County,
Tennessee. Jop was a Captain in Confederate 55th TN Regiment, Infantry.
He enrolled in Gibson on 20 Jun 1861. Applied for pension 21 Jan
1908, # 9830. His Confederate Pension listed a note to confirm his
death, listed as late May or first of June in 1913. He is buried
in Oaklawn Cemetary, Gibson County, Tennessee.
The Ferguson's apparently had a good relationship with the Boyd's as the two Ferguson sisters married two Boyd brothers.
I suspect his parents are William & Susan Ferguson. In the
1850 Census, this family was on 273b and Harris was on 275a. William
was born in NC in 1797 and Susan in VA 1802. Children in Tennessee:
Lurice (F-23), Martha (F-19), Mary (F-18), Susan (F-17), Talitha (F-15),
Joseph (M-14), John (M-11). James Ferguson is on 275b, 24 yrs, born
in NC.
William W. Crafton married Hester Ann Dial in Gibson County, Tennessee
and apparently stayed right in the area. Quite fortunately, a small
Dial Cemetary was found in Trenton. Very few headstones remain, but
these two do. A Paul C. Crafton (5 Jul 1805 - 20 Feb 1838) is there
along with a Mary Anne Law (28 Sep 1822 - 11 Apr 1875) and L. H. (husband?
12 Aug 1814 - 7 Mar 1888), a W.P.C., a Charlie J. Hicks son of J.C. &
H.A. Hicks (17 Jun 1889 - 7 May 1890), a B. McC., and J.M. Alexander (25
Mar 1791 - 1 Mar 1843) with S.K. (wife, married 10 May 1824. 15 Jul
1796 - 7 Aug 1862).
