George's mother was Marit Olson who was born 15 August 1860 in Wisconsin to Valdres, Norway immigrants, Ole Tollefson Prestrud and Anne Syversdtr Jørstad. They also settled early in Clay County, South Dakota.
George's grandfather, Aslak Iverson from Lekve, Ulvik, Hordaland, Norway was one of the original settlers in Clay County and you can read more about him in The Memoirs of Aslak written by Alice Iverson in 1960. Aslak's second wife was Brita Larsdtr. Jordalen of Jordalen, Voss, Hordaland, Norway. Please see some stories written about Brita's family.

Dora's father, Peter Dam Lund was living on Billumgaard, Denmark with his siblings and parents Thomas Jorgensen Lund and Dorthea Marie(Dora) Dam in 1880, the year before they immigrated to the U.S. where they settled for a number of years. Dora Dam Lund died in 1898 and is buried in Shennington, Monroe County, Wisconsin.
Dora's mother, Littie Sophie Wold was born in SD but her parents, Jens Jensen Wold/Voll b. 11 May 1846 and Ingeborg Ole Andreasdtr Saetra (aka Engeborg Satter) b. 18 June 1947 were both from Tysvaer, Rogaland, Norway.

CHECK THIS OUT IF YOU HAVE FAMILY FROM CLAY COUNTY IN 1884!
A map of homesteads in 1884 Clay County, South Dakota was just prepared for the Clay County Historical Society in memory of Lois Bottolfson Kryger. The map was compiled by using information from an 1884 map of Clay County and the 1990 Homestead Map from the Centennial Atlas Company. The map shows each section with the homesteader's name handwritten in the section. It measures 17" x 20".
I am so thrilled to have this map and it can be ordered from Cleo Erickson at email@example.com or in care of the Austin-Whittemore House, 15 Austin Ave., Vermillion, SD 57069. Suggested miniumum donation $10.00 plus $5.00 shipping and handling.
Thank you to the Kryger family for compiling this treasure for us researchers.
The internet has expanded our research quickly. I hope to hear from others who may tie into this family. Email Stephanie
