NOTES: Rudolph Steinke served in the 5th Gendarme Brigade.  In the last known location (Kempen, Poznan) for Rudolph in 1889, he is listed as a 66 year old witness to a marriage with the note, "retired gendarme."  In no location do I find his other names, only the single "Rudolph." Interestingly, in the Kempen Civil Registrations, there is a Rudolph Steinke listed in 1877 as a 21 year old witness to a wedding. This would made his year of birth 1855 or 56--two years before the first birth I located in the Grabow records. He is not in the earlier Grabow records, which I believe means that Rudolph the father probably came to Grabow in 1856 (his wife is a witness at a baptism in early 1857 in Grabow).
