NOTES: Henry's death information lists Henry as being single at the time of death, though this was apparently not the case. (Source: TEXAS DEATH INDEX, 1964-1998 http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/inddbs/4876a.htm?rc=locale%7E&us=0 ). His obituary (see below) states that his wife was among his survivors.

STEINKE-Henry E. Steinke, 84, 13922 Hooper Rd., died 12:10 P.M. Thursday, March 12, 1970. Native of Iowa, had lived in Houston eight years. Member of Lutheran Church. Survivors: Wife, Mrs. Sophia Werning Steinke, Houston; daughter, Mrs. Ruth Haydon, Rolling Meadows, Illinois; sons, M.E. "Red" Steinke, Houston and Glen Sturtz, Sturtevant, Wisconsin; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Helen Rinderknecht; brothers, Gus Steinke; Alfred Steinke, all of Sarasota, Florida, Art Steinke, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Services 10:30 A.M. Monday, McGowen Ave. Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, Pastor Donald E. Black, officiating. Burial in Memorial Oaks Cemetery. In lieu of usual remembrances friends may make contributions to the Lutheran Hour or their favorite charity. Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 400 Block McGowen, 524-3141.
Henry and his brother Gustav owned and operated a garage in Keystone, Iowa at one time.
