He re-enlisted in Company E, 2nd Michigan Infantry on January 12, 1864 at Detroit, Michigan for 3 years service at age 33. He took the muster oath on January 12, 1864. He reached the regiment, then in the field on July 1, 1864. (here is an obvious error in the record) He was killed in action near Petersburg, Virginia on June 17, 1864.
