Arthur Riddell, one of the best known and most highly respect- ed residents of the town, died early on Thursday. morning, after a leng- thy illness. He was in his 87th year, Mr. Riddeil had been in poor health for the past six years, and had been confined to his bed for a year and a half. Born in Edwardsburg Township, he was a son of The late John Rid- dell and his wife. Jane Weston, and was one of 11 children. He complet- ed his education in the local schools and went to Casselman, Ont., where he was Court Clerk and Magistrate. He married Miss Alice Casselman of Casselman, who predeceased him some years ago. In 1936, he mar- ried Mrs. Mae Oswald. of Detroit and New Jersey. Mr. Riddell moved to Morrisburg about 35 years ago, and was a trav- eller for farm machinery for some time. He also spent ten years as a farm valuator for the Provincial Government, and 10 years in the same capacity for the Canada Permanent Mortgage Corp. Of late years he had conducted a most successful real estate and insurance business in Morrisburg. Surviving, In addition to his wife, are: one son, Dr Arthur Riddell, of laborador; two daughters, Mrs. Chas. Mullin of McCord, Sask., and Mrs. Wm. Barker of Portland. Ont.; one brother, Mr. Esrum Riddell of Ottawa; one sister, Mrs. John T. Servage of Chesterville, and ten grandchildren. The funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. from his late residence, Main St., to Knox Presbyterian Church, Morrisburg, of which he was a Faithful member and senior elder; and will b in charge of the minister, Rev H. P. Maitland. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant cemetery, Morrisburg. Honorary pall bearers are: E. S. Coones, Frank Stewart, Enos Allison, John Meikle, George MeikIe, George Fraser.
