d. 25 Mar 1760 in Barnstable,MA
The following is from "Genealogical Notes of Barnstable Families, by Amos Otis, 1888.

Benjamin Bodfish, born July 20, 1683, married Nov. 10, 1709, Lydia Crocker, daughter of Jonathan. He died in 1760, age 77. He was a active man, and may be Called the founder of the Bodfish family of recent times. He bought for L100, by a deed from his father-in-law, Jonathan Crocker, dated Oct. 20, 1713, one half of the twenty acre lot and meadow which the latter bought of his father, John Crocker, including the dwelling house then standing thereon. This tract of land is situated on the east of Scorton Hill, and is bounded southerly by the County road. It was a part of the great lot of Abraham Blush, containing fifty acres, and sold by him Feb. 10, 1668, to John Crocker, Ser., and by him given in his will to children of his brother, Dea. William Crocker, of whom the John Crocker, first named, was one. The house above mentioned, a high, single house, with a leantoo, was occupied by Benjamin Bodfish and his son Jonathan till 1809, when it was taken down, and the present Bodfish house built on the same spot.

Bosworth, Alva (1803 - 1848)

father: Bosworth, Hezekiah(1778 - 1858)

Alva Bosworth, b. 1803: Check Meigs Co. Marriage Register.

Alva + Ruth are both buried in Bentz Cemetery, Orange Twp., Meigs Co., OH. Tombstone has 48y 2m 11d; this would make Alva's birthdate as 2 Feb. 1800-- which conflicts with the above birthdate.

1840 Census, Chester Twp., Meigs Co., Ohio: Bosworth, Alva (30-40) Female (30-40) Female (15-20) 2 Females (10-15) Male ( 5-10) Female ( 5-10) Total: 7

Information from Ann Roshon, 3584 Riley Road, Johnstown, OH 43031: July 1993: 1850 Census, Meigs Co., Ohio: Bosworth, Ruth female 48 b. Maine Samaria female 16 b. Ohio Alma female 14 b. " (can't read) male 8 b. " Hugh male 3 b. " Harvey male 1 b. " Martha female 22(days?) b. " Note: I would not think that Ruth, at 48, would have a 1-yr. old and a 3-yr. old. Perhaps Martha is a 22-yr. old relative. The death-year of Ruth's husband may shed light on this.

Ann Roshon states that some of her information came to her in a personal letter from Mary Garner, a Bosworth cousin. "Alma's father is Alva- a brother to my line of Hezekiah, Jr. I used my Bosworth line for D.A.R.; Jabin, father of Hezekiah, Sr., was our Revolutionary ancestor. This line goes back two ways to the Mayflower."

Knowledge of this family came, initially, from Anna Roshon, 3584 Riley Road, Johnstown, OH 43031: 24 July 1993. Hezekiah Bosworth, Sr. came to Ohio in 1815: Bosworth Genealogy by Mary Clark Bosworth. This line goes back to the Mayflower.

Hezekiah Bosworth, Sr., b. 1778: Hezekiah and Huldah lived in Whitehall, NY until about 1815 when they emigrated to Jefferson County, Ohio. Not long thereafter, they moved down the river to Meigs Co., Ohio where they settled. A history of the township of Bedford, Meigs Co., lists Hezekiah Bosworth as one of the first settlers there at "some time previous to 1830".

Hezekiah appears on the Bedford Twp., Meigs Co., Ohio Annual Election Poll records, 12 Oct. 1830. (Hezekiah, Jr. is also there.) Only one of the Hezekiahs appears on the Bedford Twp. records on 7 Oct. 1831. " " " " " " " " " " " " 9 Oct. 1832.
