!SOURCE:Descendants of Jeremiah Sabean of Nova Scotia FHL book #929.271/Sal3m (m(2) 29 Jan 1716, Swansea, Elizabeth Williams) Israel Sabin lived in Rehoboth continuing the family trade as miller until he and his mother sold their share of the mill and homestead in 1700. Styled husbandman or yeoman in later deeds, he moved to Swansea c1712. He, "of Swanzey" on 7 May 1717, with wife Elizabeth and mother Mary Sabin sold Rehoboth land that had been part of the estate of Samuel Sabin, Sr. In the last record found, Israel Sabin was of Barrington 26 Mar 1718 when he sold his right of commonage in Rehoboth. It is probable that he died soon afterward, for his children scattered at an early age. No probate record in Bristol County has been discovered. In his will of 31 Oct 1717, John Ormsby bequeathed some household furnishings to "two oldest daughters of Israel Sabin, the share that would have been my daughter Mary's part or portion." Jeremiah went to York Co, Then MA now ME, c1724 with his brothers Samuel and Israel, who served in the militia. Possibly Jeremiah was the "Joshua" Sabin who also served as private from 14 Jun 1725 to 28 Nov 1725, for no Joshua Sabin can be identified. "Jer Sabens," signing by mark, witnessed a deed for land in the town of York 5 Jan 1726/6. On 2 Jun 1732 Jeremiah Sabens + wife Mary of Berwick, ME both signing by mark, conveyed to Mary's brother Thomas Abbot, all right, claim, etc. in the Berwick estate of "our father Joseph Abbot, deceased." York Deeds 15:212. This Jeremiah Sabin, or his son, may have been the "Jeremiah Sabean" who signed a Casco Bay ME petition in Nov 1760 and that man was the "Jereh Sabins," grantee of Penobscot Township, 27 Jan 1764. The son Jeremiah was surely the man who, with his family, "first settled at Argyle, Nova Scotia in 1762, then moved to the mouth of the Sissiboo River there." No death or probate record for Jeremiah Sabin appears in York County. The church records of Berwick show that on 8 May 1729 Mary Sabins owned the covenent and "their" children were bapt. subsequently. SOURCE: York County, ME records. Book XV, Fol. 212. "Know all Men by these Presents that I Jeremiah Sabens of Berwick in the County of York Labourer and Mary my Wife in Right of my said Wife have for and in Consideration of a valuable Sum to us in Hand paid by our Brother Thomas Abbot of the same Town and County aforesaid Yeoman and we do acknowledge ourselves therewith fully satisfied + contented and have given granted assigned and forever acquitted and set over unto our said Brother Thomas Abbot his Heirs and Assigns all our Right Title and Interest or claim that we have unto [the Estate of] our Father Joseph Abbot late of Berwick Deceased or ever hereafter shall appear to be ours by virtue of our Father and we do hereby oblige our selves our Heirs forever to warrant and defend our said Right in the Estate unto our said Brother Thomas and his Heirs and Assigns forever against the lawfull Claims and Demands of any Person or Persons whatsoever In Witness whereof we have hereto set our Hands and Seals this Second Day of June Anno Domini 1732 and in the Fifth Year of King George ye Second Reign." !SOURCE:Descendants of Jeremiah Sabean of Nova Scotia FHL book #929.271/Sal3m Occupation--Fisherman. According to Peter Crowell of Argyle, the only documents which exist today that furnish proof of Jeremiah Sabin's brief stay in Argyle comes from references to deeds. In Deed Book 2 [pg 86] found in Queens County Registry of Deeds at Liverpool, NS one finds that on 13 Sep 1774, George Coffin, at that time of Nantucket, sold to Jonathan Crowell land and meadow of Argyle "purchased of Jerimiah Sabins." This document is most interesting in that it establishes the fact that Jeremiah Sabin lived at least briefly in that part of argyle known as Argyle Head. No land grants were made in Argyle until 1771 therefore Jeremiah Sabin could not have had true legal title to the land he sold to George Coffin. What he probably sold to Mr Coffin was a log cabin. In 1771 George Coffin received a grant to this land. As late as 1793 [see Yarmouth Co Deed Book B, page 162] a creek running thru this land was referred to as "Seabine's Creek," now Crowell's Creek. In the summer of 1765, Jeremiah sailed up the coast to the head of St Mary's Bay (from Argyle, Yarmouth co, where he arrived in 1762), building a log shanty there. In 1766, he crossed the Sissiboo River and settled on Lot 17, Division R. He also cleared land on part of Lot 18. The land he had settled on had already been granted to others on 21 Nov 1765. He finally settled on granted Lot 80 at Dunbar Lake. He built a house and a fish house on Lot 17 of 100 acres which he later sold to his son-in-law, Nathan Savary Sr. In 1801 Jeremiah accompanied his son Jeremiah to Port Lorne. Jeremiah is considered one of the six founders of Weymouth. Port lorne, where he died is often referred to as Wilmot Mountain. It seems that the surname was changed from Sabin to Sabean around this time. The Hatfield Grant of Digby Twp dated 29 Jan 1801 shows Evan Powell, Jeremiah Sabean, Abraham Brooks, David Grant, David Shook, John Grant, The heirs of Sarah Grant, Benjamin + Willoughby Sabean. The three Sabeans obviously refer to the sons of this Jeremiah.spouse: >LaVallee, Susanna (*1732 - )
