Train excursions down the Pentewan Valley in 1900 - the owner allowed very special free trips and Methodist Sunday Schools enjoyed 'their' days each year. Obviously, there were no limitations on the number of persons in any/every car! The engine was the "Canopus" - it was helped by gravity on the trips down the valley, but often stopped on the return.Previous | Home | Next |

We have a remembrance by A.L. Rowse about going on such a trip circa 1910 in our Life in the Parish section. We have been told the railway stopped operations in 1915.
