J. BURLEN BARKS
Funeral service for J. Burlen Barks of Lutesville was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Harmony
Congregational Methodist Church. Rev. Bill Ross officiated, with burial in Leslie County
Line Cemetery.
Mr. Barks died Friday, March 24,1989 at St. Francis Medical Center. He was 94.
He was born April 5, 1894 near Marble Hill, a son of Edward and Sarah
Stevens Barks. He and the former Maggie Gertrude Ramsey were married Dec. 24, 1914. She
died Nov. 13, 1968.
Mr. Barks was a lifelong resident of this area and a retired farmer. He was a member of
Harmony Church and was director of Hog Creek School District many years.
Survivors include a son, (living) Barks of Burfordville; four daughters, Mrs. Fern Graves of Marble Hill, Mrs. Flora Fornkahl, Mrs. (living) McClard and Mrs. Delores Golightly of Jackson; two brothers, Wendell Barks of Jackson and ,Basil Barks of Leopold; three sisters, Mrs. Ethel Felty of Millersville, Mrs. Mae McMullen of Marble Hill and Mrs. Ola Schreiner of Jackson; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two infant daughters, two brothers and a sister.
Liley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
