More on Margaret:

Mary Margaret Barks Statler is my gr-gr-grandmother. Census records show her year of birth to be between 1832 and 1835.
She died 18 October 1912 and was buried at Sargent's Chapel. Her mother was Sarah (Sally) Barks. I have wondered if her father might have been John Barks, who died around 1841.

Conrad Statler's pension application and susequently Mary's application after Conrad's death show that they were married by Christopher Hahs, J. P. near Appleton, MO, but on differing dates. He says February 1851 and she says January 1849.

Mary first appears on the 1850 Census (#1944) with her mother Sally Barks and brother Henry; #1943 shows Conrad in the home of his parents Peter and Margaret Statler.

The 1860 Census #93 lists Henry Barks and his mother Sarah; #94 lists Peter and Margaret Statler and their family; #95 lists Conrad and Margaret Statler and their children, John F., Emili, and Frances; #96 lists John F. and Emili Barks and their children Malvina and Conrad (It is not a great leap to conclude that Mary and John F. were siblings and each of them has a child who was named for the other's spouse.)

In 1870 Conrad and Mary have another daughter Louisa (actually Luvieca).  Lovieca, who was my father's great-aunt, married Emmanuel Fellows.  My father's grandfather was her brother, John Franklin Statler.  When she died February 5, 1964 at age 102, her obituary in the Southeast Missourian stated that she was "the daughter of Conrad and Mary Barks Statler".

In the 1900 Census, Mary reports that she was the mother of seven children of whom two were still living in 1910. Incidentally on the census records 1850 through 1880, she is listed as Margaret; on the 1900 and 1910 Census she is Mary M; a Bollinger County probate record (November 12, 1912) shows her as Mary M. Statler.  On his application to the Bureau of Pensions (Department of the Interior) August 26, 1898, Conrad lists her name as Margaret Barks; on Mary's application of widow's declaration (October 6, 1910), she lists herself as Mary Barks.

I descend through their oldest child John Franklin Statler. After John's untimely death, my grandfather Louis and his brother and
sister lived in Conrad and Mary's home.  Do you have more information about Mary Margaret and Conrad Statler?  I would
appreciate anything you might tell me about them.
