1875 - 1920

Mrs. Fred Lehnherr Called Monday, Funeral Will Be Held Tomorrow

Mrs. Fred Lehnherr, a well known resident of this village, died very suddenly at Brown's hotel in Rochester Monday night from the effects of Goiter.  She had suffered from the goiter for several years and had taken treatment at times, but she had opposed an operation.  On the night of her death she had retired for the night with the remark that she was going to sleep unusually well.  Soon afterward she raised herself in bed and dropped back and expired without a struggle.

Margart Dennie was born at Salem, Columbiana County, Ohio, Oct. 25, 1878.  At the age of nine years she came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Dennie, to Minnesota where she grew to womanhood and on Sept.. 1, 1897, she was united in marriage to Fred Lehnherr.   Six children were born to this union, five of whom survive as follows: Grace, Ruth, Hilda, John and little Doris. Baby Florence passed away in infancy.

The family moved to Frazee in the fall of 1914, returning to Pine Island last June. With the exception of these years Mrs. Lehnherr has been a resident of this vicinity since childhood.  She was intensely interested in her home and was rarely seen outside of it.  She was a model wife and mother and was greatly loved and admired by all who knew her.  She was a member of the Rebekah degree, I.O.O.F. and had recently been elected to the second chair in that order.

Besides her immediate family she is survived by her father, who resides at Glendale, Cal., three brothers, Chas. E. of Glendale, Cal., William of Escalon, Cal., and John of Milton.  Also one sister, Mrs. Bruce Rand of Milton.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 11:30 at the house and at 2 o'clock at the church at Berne and Interment will be made in the Berne Cemetery.  Rev. Mr. Pringle will officiate at the house and Rev. Mr. Kuhn at Berne.
