L. Fern Johnson, 1919-2006, Sedalia (MO)

Leona Fern Johnson, 86, of Sedalia, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, at Rest Haven Convalescent and Retirement Home.

She was born Jan. 19, 1919, in Dearborn, a daughter of Sam and Mary Duncan Jones. In 1940, in Dearborn, she was married to Elgin Johnson, who died in 1976.

Mrs. Johnson was a graduate of Dearborn High School and later moved to Kansas City where she worked for 31 years for Commerce Bank of Kansas City, and retired in 1983. She moved to Sedalia in 1986 to be near her son and his family.

Surviving are her son, E. Myers Johnson, and his wife, Sharon Sue, of Sedalia; a granddaughter, Christie Walker; a brother, James Milton Jones, of Edgerton, and several nieces and nephews.

She was also predeceased by a brother, Duncan Jones; and two sisters, Mary Kathryn Hall and Berniece Dean.
