Hull, Effie R. (nee Vestal)

Effie R. Hull, 100, St. Joseph, formerly of Wallace and Faucett, Mo., died Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at her home.
Effie was born September 5, 1909, in Wallace, the daughter of Obediah Martin and Mary Elizabeth (Ussary) Vestal.
Effie graduated from Faucett High School and attended St. Joseph Jr. College. She married James P. Hull on June 21, 1931. He preceded her in death on May 1, 1992.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Parry Palmer; and son-in-law, Don Newgard.
Effie was a Seamstress at Singer Sewing Company for seven years and taught sewing classes at the YWCA for 10 years. She was a member of the Savannah Avenue Baptist Church, Eastern Star of Faucett, Beauceant, Tailor Maids Club, and Piece Corp Quilt Club. Effie and her husband were a strong Christian example to their family. Her family was the joy of her life and kept her young and active. She was proud not only of their accomplishments but of the adults they grew to be.
Survivors: son, Samuel M. Hull and wife, Sue, Forsyth, Mo.; daughter, Mary Ann Newgard, St. Joseph; six grandchildren, Lori Mollus, Brad Hull, Jo Peters, Mark Hull, Doug Hull, and Sam Riddle; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services: 1 p.m. Saturday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment: Faucett Cemetery, Faucett, Mo. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family suggests memorial gifts to the Hands of Hope Hospice.
