Hathaway, Maranda (nee Winans)
Maranda E. Winans was born in New York on September 22nd, 1851 and departed this life Feb.
4th, 1923 at the age of 71 years, 4 month, and 13 days.
Her people moved to Missouri when she was a small child. It was in this state that she grew to woman hood. She united with the Methodist Church at Ridgeville in her early years and remained a faithful member until death. In the year 1877 this good woman was united in marriage to Edwin Hathaway already the father of a daughter Ada by name, who at the time became the object of Mrs. Hathaway consoling care.
The daughter ...(newspaper is torn here and unreadable, but goes on to read)... but God blessed this happy home by eight precious children, five of still survive: Harvey of Wells, Kansas; Maud of Maysville, Russell and Bert of Osborn, Mo; Nellie of St. Joseph, Mo; Mary and Charlie were summoned to the Home Eternal during their infancy and another daughter LuElla preceded her mother in death on Feb. 25, 1919.
Funeral services were conducted from Ridgeville Church on Tuesday Feb. 6th by Rev. Taylor. Interment was made in the Ridgeville cemetery. The many sympathizing friends in attendance at the memorial services were a living tribute to the high esteem in which this good woman and precious mother was held by the many who had come to know and love her.
