Paul W. "Bill" Hales, of Ashland, died early Thursday morning, Oct. 12 , 1995 at Griffith Nursing Home in Ashland after a several month illnes.

Mr. Hales was born August 1, 1932 in Oberlin, son of the late Charles and Dorothy (Watson) Hales. He had lived in the Norwalk area, moving to Elyria around 1960. He lived in the New London and Ashland areas since 1972.

He worked for Fruhauf Trailer Co. in Avon, drove truck for Spitzer Management Inc. of Elyria and retired from the VanDresser Co., formerly of Norwalk, in 1991.

Mr. Hales was a member of the Clarksfield Seventh-Day Adventist Church and the UAW Local 1379 of Norwalk.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Tuttle) Hales; seven daughters, Sandra Young of Elyria, Paula young and Beverly Hales, both of North Ridge, Billie Jo and Sherry Hales, both of of Tampa, Florida, Tina Hales of Tarboro, North Carolina, and Terri Hales of Ashland; two stepdaughters, Yvonne McDonald of Columbus and Tammy Mustian of Glen Burrie,Maryland; two step sons Robert McDonald of Fremont And William McDonald of Detroit, Michigan; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and four brothers, Charles Lynn (Buster) Hales, Jr. of Elyria, Richard Hales of Norwalk, Russell Hales of Denver, Colorado, and Jack Hales of Ashland.

He was precded in death by an infant son Charles Ray, and two sisters.

Services were held Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St., New London, with Pastor Kirk C. J. Yoon officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Norwalk.
