Hales, Charles L., Sr.
Charles L. Hales Sr., 71, of 822 Allen St., a retired truck driver for Spitzer Motors, died yesterday afternoon at Elyria Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Hales was born in Camden and had lived in this area all his life. His wife, Dorothy, died in 1960.
Surviving are five sons, Charles Jr., of Elyria, Richard E. and Russell, both of Norwalk, Paul W. of Rossburg, and Jack E., of Ashland; a daughter, Mrs. Ernest (Annabel) Wrobel, of Flat Rock, Mich.; 25 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a brother, James, of Brighton, and four sisters, Mrs. Grace Beam, of Brighton, Mrs. Marie Gudderjohn, of Ashland, Mrs. Mary Merrills, of Wellington and Mrs. Lucy Neal, of Clarksfield. He was preceded in death by a daughter, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received tomorrow from 3 to 4:30 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harold Dicken Funeral Home where the funeral service will be conducted tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Charles W. Hamilton will officiate. Burial will be in Camden Cemetery.
