11 June 1942, Thursday - noon
Darling -
Received a letter from Mrs. Lowry this morning and after I finish this I'm
going to answer hers. Darling, darling - why didn't you tell me conditions
were like that? I never realized it and Mrs. Lowry has really frightened
me. I'm making arrangements to get out there as soon as possible. It will
take two weeks to get my ticket - I inquired, and then the few days for
travelling. So the end of the month will find us married. I hope and pray
we'll be allowed to - I mean that you're still there. Oh golly, my head is
whirling.
And Ted, do you think I ought to bring all my things out? Like blankets,
linen which would have to be packed in my trunk. I don't know what the
arrangements are going to be - will you please help me out?
Mrs. Lowry was very sweet to write and I'm very grateful. You've some very
grand friends, Ted. I've got to get back to work now, but until Saturday,
darling.
All my love -
