IV - MEMBERSHIP

REQUIREMENTS:
The SSDP is open to males with the surname of Staple, Staples, Stapleton or variants and females whose father or mother carried the surname of Staple, Staples, Stapleton or variants.

For Males as of November 01, 2005, the minimum requirement is a Y-DNA 37-marker test.

For females the minimum mtDNA is the HVR-1+2 test.

Sponsors of a male 'Staples' member are not required to participate in DNA testing.

Individuals with DNA test results from other than FTDNA such as, Oxford Ancestors, DNA Heritage, Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation, Ancestry DNA and others may be eligible for membership. Contact the SSDP Group Administrator for more information.

HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER OF THE SSDP:
1) To complete the SSDP Application click HERE or contact the SSDP Group Administrator giving a brief statement on why you want to join the SSDP and an application will be e-mailed you.

2) When the completed 'SSDP Application' is returned and approved by the group Administrator, the FTDNA test kit for the applicant will be ordered.

3) When FTDNA informs the Group Administrator of the return date of applicants DNA test kit the applicant becomes a member of the SSDP.

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION:
Each member of the SSDP is responsible for information provided and their DNA testing costs, which are paid directly to FTDNA when the DNA test kit is returned to FTDNA.

The Group Administrator, manages and maintains this website, communicates with prospective members, sends out and reviews applications, keeps abreast of members tests, reviews information on genetic family history deemed relative to our project and replies to questions sent to him on SSDP genetic family history.

FTDNA TESTS and PRICING:
1) The SSDP group discount is lower than the individual rate found in the FTDNA website under 'Pricing'.

2) Obtaining your DNA is accomplished by collecting what is known as buccal-cells from the inside of your mouth with a special brush. Instructions with the DNA kit are very clear.

3) For a complete list of FTDNA tests see their website. If there is a test you are interested in and it is not listed here, please contact the Group Administrator for the group or member cost.

4) Payments are made directly to FTDNA.

5) INTERNATIONAL NOTE: Rates are in US $, the use of a credit card will give you the current exchange rate.

6) Shipping and Handling is added to prices when ordering the DNA test kit. FTDNA banks your DNA for 25 years, therefore any tests ordered after the first test have no S&H charge.
