 THE WORLDWIDE STAPLES' SURNAME & DNA PROJECT (SSDP) WAS FOUNDED IN SEPTEMBER 2002 AS A TEN YEAR GENETIC GENEALOGY PROJECT WITH THE PRIMARY GOAL OF INCREASING KNOWLEDGE OF OUR  VARIED FAMILY HISTORY BY MATCHING GENETIC RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN PARTICIPANTS AND IDENTIFYING OUR GENETIC ROOTS WITHIN FAMILY GROUPS, GENETIC FAMILY TREES AND OUR UNIQUE INDIVIDUAL GENETIC FAMILY BRANCHES.

OUR Y-CHROMOSOME GENETIC SURNAME RESEARCH REPORTS USE A MAXIMUM OF FAMILY TREE DNA (FTDNA) Y67-MARKER TEST RESULTS. MITOCHONDRIAL DNA RESEARCH USES FTDNA HVS-1 & HVS-2 TEST RESULTS.

CURRENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF OUR PRIMARY GOAL ARE PUBLISHED IN EIGHT STUDIES FOUND IN CHAPTER IV - SSDP STUDIES OF GENETIC RELATIONSHIPS. THESE STUDIES ARE BASED ON A MAXIMUM OF Y67 FTDNA TEST RESULTS USING SNP OR FTDNA PROJECTED MEMBERS HAPLOGROUPS TO DETERMINE THE MEMBERS ANCESTRAL MODAL HAPLOTYPE. THIS GENETIC DATA IS COMPARED TO FTDNA Y67 INFORMATION (as of 08 JULY 2011) BY  GENEALOGY by GENETICS, LTD., 2002-2011 "INTERPRETING GENETIC DISTANCE WITHIN SURNAME PROJECTS" TO DETERMINE GENETIC RELATIONSHIPS.

V MEMBERSHIP: How to become a member.
NOTE:  15 August 2011: The SSDP ten year genetic research study will end on 15 September 2012. Membership to the project will end on 15 June 2012. Y67-DNA tests paid for prior to the membership closing date will be added to the SSDP website when finalized.

This website will remain on-line 'as-is' after the closing date with the exception of the sections on Membership and FTDNA
Announcements.

FTDNA in some type of partnership with MY HERITAGE.COM has opened a new "STAPLES Surname DNA Project with a Member Count of "Zero".

The Staples Surname & DNA Project (SSDP) has no connection to the FTDNA - MY HERITAGE.COM Staples surname project.

The SSDP Group Administrator was not contacted my FTDNA about this new project and has no knowledge of the practices of My Heritage.com and whatever partnership arrangement exists between FTDNA and My Heritage.com.
