James

William M James was born around 1885 in Canada, and is listed as being of "English" ancestry, though in one record his father is listed as being from Northern Ireland, and one of his children later declared her ancestry to be "Canadian - Irish". William M immigrated in 1883, and was naturalized before 1900.

William M married Maggie Harvey (b. Dec 1861 in Canada) around 1886. Maggie immigrated in 1886, but was not naturalized until some time between 1900 and 1930. William M did not serve in the Great War.

During the 1900 Census, William M and Maggie were living in Brechenridge (Wilkin County), Minnesota, in a house that they owned outright. Their children were William Harvey (b. 02 Mar 1888), Horace M (b. 13 Aug 1890), Ada L (b. Sep 1891), and Mary M (b. Sep 1895), all born in Minnesota. William M was working as an editor; the children (except for four-year-old Mary M) were in school.

During the 1930 Census, William M and Maggie were living in Minneapolis (Hennepin County), Minnesota, in a house that rented for $50 a month. They owned a radio. William M and Maggie were retired, and were supported by their spinster daughter Mary M, who was working as a visiting registered nurse.

During that same time, William Harvey had also moved to Minneapolis (Hennepin County), Minnesota, where he lived with his wife Hazel M (maiden name unknown) (b. c1896 in Minnesota) and daughter Margaret A (b. Dec 1928), in a house valued at $7000. The family owned a radio. William Harvey worked as an insurance salesman.

William Harvey died on 02 Aug 1975 in Hennepin County, Minnesota. Horace M died on 05 Aug 1976 in Hennepin County, Minnesota.

In later years, Mary M would move to Toledo (Lucas County), Ohio, to live with her widowed mother Ada L and her widowed niece Mary Maxine Preble Mills, who was working as a school principal. Mary Maxine's daughter Carol Maxine would call Mary M her "Auntie" and Ada L her "Gran"; Mary M continued nursing to help support Mary Maxine's household, and Ada L raised Carol Maxine. Mary M died on 15 July 1965 in Toledo (Lucas County), Ohio, never having married.
