A graduate of the United States Naval Academy, was commissioned
an Ensign in 1935. Some of his duty stations include USS CALIFORNIA (BB-44);
USS KANE (DD-235); Mine Division ONE, Fleet Air Base, Pearl Harbor;
Destroyer Division 73, Naval Air Station Norfolk; Naval Air Force, U.S.
Atlantic Fleet, Fleet Air Wing 16; Bureau of Supplies and Accounts;
U.S. Strategic Bombing Survey; Naval Supply Center Pearl Harbor;
USS CORAL SEA (CVB-43); New York Naval Shipyard; U.S. SIXTH Fleet, Naval
Supply Depot, Seattle. His selection to flag was approved by the President
in August 1961. In November 1962 he became Auditor General of the Navy. In
August 1965 he became Special Assistant to the Chief of the Bureau of
Supplies and Accounts. He retired on 1 January 1966.
