William L. Stanback
October 18, 1828-January 3, 1909

William was the son of Presley Nelms Stanback, Sr., grandson of Thomas Stainback. Thomas Stanback was the brother of George W. Stainback, who fathered the Stainbacks of Granville County, North Carolina. William died in the Civil War in the Battle of Winchester, just over four months before his brother George L. died at Spotsylvania Court House.        These photos were provided by Charlie Rathbun, Stainback descendant & researcher.
