In memory of those that gave their lives in WWI
The First World War saw many young men loose their lives. Among them were Sprostons and Sprosons. The list below details those that died, this has been extracted from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission web site. Details on this site include the location of the grave of each person and the inscription on the gravestone.
In total 23 young men gave their lives. Five of them were members of the Cheshire Regiment, one was in the newly formed RAF and one was from Australia.

The image of the Sproston’s shop used as the header to these web pages is a gentlemen’s outfitters run by Percival Charles Sproston. P.C. Sproston died in the First World War and is buried in Castle Church (St Mary) Churchyard, Stafford. The shop was located at 35 Greengate Street, Stafford.
