Civil Records Database

The Civil Records Database is organised by births, marriages and death. To access information please click on the appropriate link below. Within each page names are listed alphabetically by first name.

The part of the web site is currently being complied. If you have any records from GRO Index or have information from certificates (Births, Marriage or Deaths) then please email the details and I will add them to the database and this page. Hopefully, if there is enough information I will add a second dataset that detials information from certificates themselves as well as the index.

As many of you will be aware Civil Registration in England and Wales began on 1st January 1837. These records are kept centrally with the General Registrar’s Office (GRO). Registration in Scotland began on 1st January 1855 and in Ireland on 1st January 1864.

The GRO Index is an important genealogical tool. What I have attempted to do with the GRO Index is to extract all Sproston births, marriages and deaths. There are a number of different spellings of the name so I have include many of the variant spellings including,

SPROSEN; SPROSON; SPROSSON; SPROSTON; SPROSTOW; SPROUSON; SPROUSTON; SPROWSON; SPROWSTON; SPROXTON

Please be aware that every effort has been made to insure that the information on these pages is accurate, however, it is the responsibility of the user of this site to verify information against primary source documents before accepting it as actual fact. The law of averages dictates that there will be errors and ommissions as well as conflicting information.

GRO birth index

GRO marriage index

GRO death index

This dataset will be added to, as and when I can find time. So far I have managed to add the following from the index, please click on the links below to find out more information.
