Submitting to this Spratlen Website
Because this site is constructed in order to draw together the information on a particular branch of Spra*l*n*, all submissions must deal with a person named "Spratlen" or "Spratlin" or other variant spellings. It may also deal with an individual's spouse and children (but not grandchildren if the name has changed).
- Copyright materials - It is more than important that we carefully observe copyright laws. Anything that is still under copyright must be accompanied by permission from the copyright holder before it will be posted on this site. Also, any transcription you make from original materials will remain copyrighted to you. Anything that was published before 1923 and the copyright was not renewed, is copyright free.
- On-line materials - These may be summarized, but please give the url of the website where you found the information and the date you found it. This will allow others to find the information for themselves.
- Books should have complete documentation: author or editor, title, publisher, date of publication and any notes to help others find the book.
- Any other source should be noted. Example: "I got this from talking to my ninety-year-old aunt, Minnie J. Perky. She was sharp as a youngster and had a memory like an elephant. I'd vouch for the accuracy of her words."
HOW TO:
- When you send something, please include the name of the person this record is for, birthdate or approximate date, place of birth; marriage date and to whom, the county or state of the marriage; and death date and place. Places and dates help distinguish folks who had the same name.
- Plain text please - I can code a page easily and keep it lean and fast loading if you send it in plain text (notepad). If you present it already in html code, I will likely need to 'uncode' much of it since Front Page and other webpage-creating software add lots of useless code to pages.
- Gif's or Jpeg's - Send them along, but do not compress them.
