According to Maude England Roberts Thomas Barnes mother was a Roberts.

In Volume 38 at P.A.N.L. there is a marriage record of :

Generation No. 2

2. WILLIAM HENRY2 BARNES (THOMAS1) was born Abt. August 1861 in Brigus, NL, and died August 06, 1917 in Brigus, NL. He married MARY JULIA MORGAN December 05, 1888 in Brigus, NL, daughter of JOSEPH MORGAN and ELIZABETH NEE.

Notes for WILLIAM HENRY BARNES:
The grave of Mary Julia, William Henry and Jane Emma Barnes is found in the St. George's Cemetery. They are marked on single headstone.

William Henry fished on the Labrador. On these journeys his wife and children would accompany him on the ship. It was a hard life. Daughter Sarah claims to have been born on such a trip- up in Labrador, she was baptised of course in Brigus.
Also there is a discrepency in the date of death and burial of Emma Jane, leading me to wonder if she had died on one of these fishing expeditions.
